COVID-19 Outbreak Update | SwanCare Ningana

Unfortunately, we need to advise that 72-hour testing over the weekend has identified an additional eight residents on Level 1 who have tested positive to COVID-19. The affected residents’ families have been notified and those residents are being well taken care of in their rooms. Two staff members have also tested positive to COVID-19 and are recovering at home. Fortunately, we can confirm SwanCare Ningana’s Ground Floor has recovered from the outbreak and as such, that floor is now open to visitors.

Visitations and movement across Level 1 remain restricted. Exemptions can be made for end of life and partners in care; however, all approved visitors must wear an N95 mask and complete a RAT prior to entry. Physiotherapy and social engagement activities have been modified to one-on-one, hairdressing has temporarily ceased, and meal tray service is being provided to all affected residents.

Visitations can continue to our other floors under the conditions listed below, however, to allow us to mitigate further spread, we do request that visits be limited where possible. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications can be made by contacting Ningana during reception hours.

We would also like to remind families that we are requesting for residents located on the affected floors to not go on outings unrelated to medical appointments. If there are special circumstances in which the resident needs to leave the care centre, please discuss this with myself or Ningana’s Clinical Nurse Manager, Arnel Braulio.
A reminder that all visitors must adhere to the current health and safety measures as follows:

  • Complete RAT prior to entry.
  • Wear a properly fitted N95 mask while on the affected floors, surgical masks are required elsewhere.
  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival.
  • Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations prior to entry is encouraged.
  • Respect all infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in place.
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case.
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free.
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 7pm daily.
We thank you for your patience and support as we continue to manage this outbreak.
