Feathers Winners January 2025

Feathers Winners January 2025
Our People

We are excited to announce our January 2025 Feathers winner and also congratulate our outstanding line-up of winners from last month.

It’s hard to believe we are full swing into February for our next edition of Feathers already, but it’s not hard to believe that we are surrounded by a bunch of amazing nominees!

Without further ado, we’d love you to join us in celebrating our winners for January, Jenny Dowling, Resident Support Services Officer, Sarah Wentworth, Administration Officer, and Moira Heddle, Resident Support Services Officer. Here is their nomination which demonstrates their overwhelming compassion for their work:

“Showing compassion is something we all do every day in our jobs. But the compassion these ladies showed to a resident and their family made such a difference in his final days - they deserve some extra recognition. Estranged from his family for many years, and surrounded by people who did not have his best interests at heart, without these ladies’ intervention this resident would probably have spent his last week’s sad and alone.

Thankfully, due to the compassion, care and interest they showed, they were able to reunite him with his family. They made sure that during his last week’s alive he was in a comfortable and happy place, surrounded by people that cared for and loved him. You have all made an amazing difference to this resident’s life and the lives of his family -well done to you all.”

These ladies embody the core purpose of what SwanCare endeavours to achieve, day in, day out - to enrich the lives of our residents. We’re lucky that we have a strong team that backs this purpose, with many of those team members mentioned here as our category winners for the month. Here are their stories.

Category Winners

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Chris Rabail, Network Administrator - Administration

“I asked Chris to assist a resident with an issue with her mobile phone. Chris happily attended and spent time with the resident working through the issues. The resident was very anxious and concerned. Chris fully explained the problems to her and talked her through exactly what he was doing and why. He showed a great deal of empathy and patience, and I really appreciate the service he provided to this resident. Thank you, Chris.”

Going above and beyond is not just doing the job at hand but taking the time and effort to really make a difference in what you do. Thank you, Chris, for recognising the needs of the resident and helping to ease the difficulties they faced.

LEADERSHIP

Mathesa Enjambre, Registered Nurse - Ningana

“I am incredibly happy and proud to present feathers to our nurse. She consistently goes above and beyond her duties and her presence ensures the safety and happiness of our residents. She is like an angel, always fulfilling the wishes and needs of everyone no matter the situation. I can see the smiles on the residents' faces when they see her and mine reflects the same.

Having worked with her for two years I have always felt valued and included in everything I do. She offers guidance, does not command, and truly understands us and the work we do. I've always felt supported by her knowing she ensures we are fulfilling our responsibilities to the residents. Above all I continue to learn from her every time we work together. I never imagined I could learn so much through our work and I'm grateful to have met her and to feel so special because of it. Thank you very much and please know that you are an important person and I’m glad to work with you.”

Wow amazing feedback Mathesa, you should be very proud to know that you are making such a positive difference to those around you. We are extremely grateful to have you on the team!

TEAMWORK

Drew Collins, Service Desk Team Leader - Administration

“I would like to recognise Drew with feathers for his exceptional teamwork. As a new member of the SwanCare team, Drew has integrated seamlessly and consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to helping wherever needed. His customer service is outstanding, and he approaches every task with a sense of urgency and dedication. Recently while discussing the idea of creating an exit survey for staff during offboarding, Drew took the initiative and returned the very next day with a well-tested sample ensuring its effectiveness. His proactive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond are truly commendable.”

Great work Drew! Thank you for using your skills so proactively and helping us improve our processes.
