Viral Infections Update: SwanCare Waminda

Please be advised that SwanCare Waminda is currently experiencing viral infections across Level 1 and 2, therefore we would like to ask everyone to limit their visits over the weekend, where possible, while we monitor the situation. Visitors are required to respect increased infection control protocols to assist us with minimising further spread.

One resident on Level 1 has tested positive for COVID-19 with all other residents on Level 1 having returned a negative RAT result for COVID-19. A further two residents across Level 1 and Level 2 are displaying Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) symptoms. The affected resident on Level 1 has tested negative for COVID-19 and we are awaiting the COVID-19 test result for the resident on Level 2. The affected residents’ families have been notified and the affected residents are being well taken care of in their rooms.

At SwanCare, the health and safety of our residents and staff remain our priority. We have immediately increased infection control protocols and are taking every precaution to minimise risk and prevent an outbreak.

Mask wearing and Rapid Antigen Testing prior to entry is strongly encouraged for all visitors entering SwanCare Waminda. These resources are available at reception. In addition, all visitors must adhere to the current health and safety measures as detailed below:

  • Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations prior to entry is encouraged
  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival
  • Respect all infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in place
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 12pm and 2pm – 5pm daily
Thank you for your support as we manage this situation. Updates will continue to be provided where appropriate.
