COVID-19 Update: SwanCare Waminda

We wish to provide an update on the COVID-19 outbreak at SwanCare Waminda. Two residents across Level 1 and Level 3 remain in isolation as they recover from COVID-19. The affected residents’ families have been notified and the affected residents are being well taken care of in their rooms. However, we are pleased to advise all previously affected SwanCare Waminda residents have made a full recovery.

All staff working at SwanCare Waminda are required to complete Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to each shift while routine testing will continue every 72 hours for residents across Level 1 and Level 3.

To minimise risk and prevent further spread, we have enhanced our Infection Prevention and Control measures and restricted movement across both levels. This includes temporarily ceasing hairdressing services, limiting physiotherapy and social engagement activities to 1:1 and providing meal tray service within residents’ rooms across Level 1 and Level 3.

SwanCare Waminda Level 1 and Level 3 are closed to visitors until further notice. SwanCare Waminda’s Ground Floor, Level 2 and Level 4 will remain open. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life, partners in care and essential healthcare visitors. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Waminda during reception hours to schedule a time.

Visitors are required to complete a RAT test prior to entry and must ensure a mask is worn appropriately. In addition, visitors are reminded to follow the below requirements:

  • Provide proof of current influenza and COVID-19 (2 doses) vaccinations prior to entry
  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time

All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to manage this outbreak. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.
