COVID-19 Update: SwanCare Waminda
We need to advise of further confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 at SwanCare Waminda. In total, four residents on Level 2 and three residents on Level 3 have been affected, including one resident from Level 3 who has been transferred to hospital for further medical support. The affected residents’ families have been notified and they are being well taken care of in their rooms. Two staff members have also tested positive for COVID-19 and are isolating from home until they make a full recovery.
We are taking every precaution to minimise risk and mitigate further spread. We have immediately increased infection control protocols and have restricted movement across Level 2 and Level 3. Residents on both levels are being provided with with 1:1 physiotherapy and social engagement activities and meal tray services to their rooms. In addition, we have temporary ceased hairdressing services for residents on Level 2 and Level 3.
Given the increase of residents affected with COVID-19, we ask that visitations to Level 2 and Level 3 be limited and anyone wishing to visit the affected levels obtain approval from the Care Services Manager, Clinical Nurse Manager or RN Team Leader prior to arrival. Exemptions will always be made for partners in care and end of life care. Visitors to all levels at SwanCare Waminda are required to wear a N95 mask and complete Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to entry. These resources will remain available from reception.
With the health and safety of our residents and staff our priority, SwanCare will implement increased infection control measures during times of viral outbreak. In addition to mandatory masks and Rapid Antigen Testing, visitors are required to adhere to the current health and safety measures as detailed below:
-
Vaccinations for Influenza and COVID-19 are strongly encouraged
-
Hand hygiene and social distancing to be respected at all times
-
Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival
-
Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case
-
If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free
-
Visitors to affected levels are asked to obtain approval prior to arriving, with visitors limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 12pm and 2pm – 5pm daily
All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.
