COVID-19 Update: SwanCare Waminda

We wish to provide an update on the COVID-19 outbreak at SwanCare Waminda. One resident on Level 1 and six residents on Level 2 have tested positive. All affected residents’ families have been notified and the residents are being well taken care of in their rooms. However, we are pleased to advise all affected residents on Level 3 have made a full recovery. Deep cleaning is now in progress. All residents have been tested and will be carefully monitored for symptoms. Routine testing will continue to be conducted every 72 hours on Level 1 and Level 2.

We are continuing to take all necessary precautions to minimise risk and prevent spread. We have immediately increased infection control protocols, restricted movement across Level 1 and Level 2, and are currently undertaking a full risk assessment. We have temporarily ceased hairdressing services, limiting physiotherapy and social engagement activities to 1:1 and providing meal tray service within residents’ rooms. All SwanCare Waminda staff are required to complete Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to each shift.

SwanCare Waminda Level 1 and Level 2 are closed to visitors until further notice. Level 3 will reopen from today, Friday the 13th of January. Ground Floor and Level 4 will remain open. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life, partners in care and essential healthcare visitors. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Waminda reception.

We would like to remind you that all visitors to SwanCare residential aged care centres must adhere to current health and safety protocols, which includes increased infection control measures during times of viral outbreak. Visitors and staff are required to complete a RAT test prior to entry and wear a mask. In addition, visitors are reminded to follow the below requirements:

  • Provide proof of current influenza and COVID-19 (2 doses) vaccinations prior to entry
  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time
  • Visiting hours are 9am-12pm & 2pm-5pm daily

All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we manage this current outbreak. Further updates will be provided as required.
