COVID-19 Update: SwanCare Waminda

We need to advise we have confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 at SwanCare Waminda. A total of five residents have been affected. The affected residents’ families have been notified and the residents are being well taken care of in their rooms. All residents have been tested and will be carefully monitored for symptoms. Routine testing will be conducted every 72 hours. As such, a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at SwanCare Waminda.

We are taking every precaution to minimise risk and mitigate further spread. We have immediately increased infection control protocols, restricted movement across Level 2 and Level 3, and are currently undertaking a full risk assessment. We have temporarily ceased hairdressing services, limiting physiotherapy and social engagement activities to 1:1 and providing meal tray service within residents’ rooms. All staff working in the affected care centre are required to complete Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to each shift.

SwanCare Waminda Level 2 and Level 3 will close to visitors until further notice. Ground Floor, Level 1 and Level 4 will remain open. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life, partners in care and essential healthcare visitors. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Waminda during reception hours to schedule a time.

We would like to remind you that all visitors to SwanCare residential aged care centres must adhere to current health and safety protocols, which includes increased infection control measures during times of viral outbreak. Visitors and staff are required to complete a RAT test prior to entry and must ensure a mask is worn appropriately. In addition, visitors are reminded to follow the below requirements:

  • Provide proof of current influenza and COVID-19 (2 doses) vaccinations prior to entry
  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time
  • Visiting hours are 9am-12pm & 2pm-5pm daily

All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.

Thank you for your support as we manage this outbreak and further updates will be provided as required.
