COVID-19 Update: SwanCare Waminda
We wish to provide an update on the COVID-19 outbreak at SwanCare Waminda. We can confirm there has been further spread of the virus, with positive cases found on Ground Floor, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. All affected residents’ families have been notified and the residents are being well taken care of in their rooms. All residents have been tested and will be carefully monitored for symptoms. Routine testing will continue to be conducted every 72 hours.
We are continuing to take all necessary precautions to minimise risk and prevent further spread. As such, we have enhanced our Infection Prevention and Control measures, restricted movement across all floors and are currently undertaking a full risk assessment. We have temporarily ceased hairdressing services, group activities and commenced room service for all meals. All SwanCare Waminda staff are required to complete Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to each shift and must wear a N95 mask.
Visitations to all floors at SwanCare Waminda are now closed until further notice while we risk assess, implement IPC measures and continue to test residents. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life, partners in care and essential healthcare visitors. These visitors are required to RAT test prior to entry, wear the appropriate PPE provided and follow all other health and safety protocols. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Waminda reception.
All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.
Please be advised as our nursing team manage this current outbreak, they may not be available to respond to phone calls as promptly as usual. All affected residents’ representatives will be contacted by the nursing team directly. Any enquiries can be emailed to SwanCare Waminda’s Clinical Nurse Manager or myself.
