We need to advise that a COVID-19 Outbreak has been declared at SwanCare Waminda. Effective immediately, SwanCare Waminda Levels 1 & 4 will be closed to visitors.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared at SwanCare Waminda

We need to advise we have confirmed positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) at SwanCare Waminda. Two residents and four staff have been affected. The affected residents are located on Level 1 and Level 4. The affected residents’ families have been notified and the residents are being well taken care of in their rooms, while the affected staff members are recovering at home. All residents on Level 1 and Level 4 have been RAT tested and will be carefully monitored for symptoms. As such, a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at SwanCare Waminda.

We are taking every precaution to minimise risk and mitigate further spread. We have immediately increased infection control protocols, restricted movement across Level 1 and Level 4 and are currently undertaking a full risk assessment. We have temporarily ceased hairdressing services, limiting physiotherapy and social engagement activities to 1:1 and providing meal tray service within residents’ rooms.

SwanCare Waminda Level 1 and Level 4 will close to visitors effective immediately – please refrain from visiting until further notice. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life and partners in care. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Waminda during reception hours to schedule a time.

Ground Floor, Level 2 and Level 3 will remain open to visitors however, all visitors are required to comply with increased infection control protocols. This includes mandatory RAT testing for all SwanCare Waminda visitors and staff prior to entry. Additionally, if you are entering the center you are required to wear a mask at all times and not visit if symptomatic or have had COVID-19 within the past 7 days.

All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.
