COVID-19 Outbreak Declared at SwanCare Kingia

We need to advise that late last night, the 3rd of December, we received confirmation of a COVID-19 outbreak at SwanCare Kingia Level 1. After displaying symptoms, three residents on Level 1 and three staff members have returned positive test results for COVID-19. The affected residents’ families have been notified and the residents are being well taken care of in their rooms, while the affected staff are recovering at home. Given the number of affected residents and staff, a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared.

We are taking every precaution to minimise risk and mitigate further spread. We have immediately increased infection control protocols, restricted movement across Level 1 and are currently undertaking a full risk assessment. We have temporarily ceased hairdressing services, limiting physiotherapy and social engagement activities to 1:1 and providing meal tray service within residents’ rooms.

As a result, SwanCare Kingia Level 1 will be closed to visitors effective immediately – please refrain from visiting until further notice. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life and partners in care. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Kingia during reception hours to schedule a time.

SwanCare Kingia Ground Floor remains open for visitors; however, all visitors are required to comply with increased infection control protocols and only visit if well. As a reminder, all visitors are required to health screen upon arrival, wear a mask at all times and not visit if symptomatic or have had COVID-19 within the past 7 days. Visiting hours for SwanCare Kingia Ground Floor are 9am-12pm & 2pm-5pm daily with visitors limited to two people at a time.

All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.

We will keep you updated where appropriate. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we manage this current outbreak.
