COVID-19 Outbreak Update | SwanCare Ningana
We'd like to provide an update on the outbreak at SwanCare Ningana. One resident on Level 1 has tested positive to COVID-19. The resident’s family have been notified and that resident is being well taken care of in their room. One resident on the Ground Floor is still completing their recovery, although we are pleased to share that all other previously affected residents on the Ground Floor and Level 1 have now made a full recovery.
Further testing is due to take place over the weekend where we will reassess the situation, however, to help us continue to manage this outbreak, visitations and movement across the Ground Floor and Level 1 currently remain restricted.
Exemptions can be made for end of life and partners in care; however, all approved visitors must wear an N95 mask and complete a RAT prior to entry. Physiotherapy and social engagement activities have been modified to one-on-one, hairdressing has temporarily ceased, and meal tray service will be provided to all affected residents.
Visitations can continue to our other floors under the conditions listed below, however, to allow us to mitigate further spread, we do request that visits be limited where possible. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications can be made by contacting Ningana reception.
We also ask families to not take residents located on the affected floors to outings unrelated to medical appointments. If there are special circumstances in which the resident needs to leave the care centre, please discuss this with myself or Ningana’s Clinical Nurse Manager, Arnie.
A reminder that all visitors must adhere to the current health and safety measures as follows:
- Complete RAT prior to entry.
- Wear a properly fitted N95 mask while on the affected floors, surgical masks are required elsewhere.
- Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival.
- Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations prior to entry is encouraged.
- Respect all infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in place.
- Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case.
- If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free.
- Visitors are limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 7pm daily.
Thank you for your understanding. Further updates will be provided where appropriate.
