COVID-19 Outbreak Update: SwanCare Ningana Level 1 & 2

We would like to provide an update on the COVID-19 outbreak at SwanCare Ningana. One resident on Level 1 has returned a positive test result. The affected resident’s family have been notified and the resident is being well taken care of in their room. Five staff members have also tested positive to COVID-19 and are isolating at home until they make a full recovery.

Routine testing has detected no further cases on Level 2 at this time. Residents across all levels will continue to be closely monitored for symptoms.

To continue mitigating further spread, visitations and movement remain restricted across Level 2. Exemptions can be made for end of life and partners in care. Physiotherapy and social engagement activities have been modified to one-on-one and meal tray service will continue to be provided to residents within their rooms across the affected floor. Hairdressing has also been ceased temporarily until further notice.

Visitors to Level 1 are required to wear an N95 mask, and anyone entering SwanCare Ningana must complete a RAT prior to entry. Masks and RATs are available to collect from reception.

Visitations can continue to other floors, however, to allow us to best manage the situation, we do request that visits be limited where possible to allow us to fully assess the risk and mitigate further spread. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications can be made by contacting Ningana during reception hours.

Please be reminded all visitors must adhere to the current health and safety measures as detailed below:

  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival.
  • Complete RAT prior to entry.
  • Wear a mask indoors and outdoors within residential aged care centre grounds.
  • Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations prior to entry is encouraged.
  • Respect all infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in place.
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case.
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free.
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 12pm and 2pm – 5pm daily.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we manage this outbreak.
