Covid-19 updates

COVID-19 outbreak declared and Acute Respiratory Illness outbreak remains at SwanCare Waminda.

31st May 2024

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared and ARI Outbreak Remains in Place

Please be advised that we unfortunately now have two residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 on Level 3. This is in addition to a further nine residents across all levels, and three staff, who have respiratory symptoms. All affected residents’ families have been notified directly and are being well taken care of in their room while staff isolate at home. I’m pleased to advise that since our last update, nine residents and five staff have fully recovered.

As a result, the Acute Respiratory Infection outbreak remains, and a COVID-19 outbreak is also declared.

Increased infection control protocols remain in place. Physiotherapy and social engagement activities have been modified to one-on-one; meal tray service being provided to residents within their rooms and hairdressing has also been ceased temporarily until further notice.

Visitations are now restricted to assist with minimising further spread. Exemptions are in place for end of life and partners in care. These visitors must not attend if unwell or are a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case and must abide by the increased infection control measures which include completing a RAT prior to entry and wearing an N95 mask while indoors.

Everyone entering SwanCare Waminda must ensure their mask is correctly fitted at all times. You can view how to properly don and fit check a mask by watching this video here: https://youtu.be/rzaEOY345q4.

Arrangements for telephonic and video communications can be made by contacting Waminda during reception hours for those who wish to speak to their loved one during this time.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and patience while we manage this outbreak.
