SwanCare Waminda Refurbishment Progress Update

2025 brings with it the conclusion of the major refurbishment at Waminda. Residents have been very patient and supportive of the refurbishment works to date as they can see the improvements this has made as each new floor is completed.

The construction has been managed closely with fortnightly site meetings and daily communication between the builder and SwanCare/Waminda Management.

Throughout this process we have been aware noise would be an ongoing factor, so we continue to take steps to reduce the impact on our residents. We have provided noise cancelling headphones and ear plugs, alternative areas either in Waminda or across the broader campus for residents to use, we assist residents with hearing aids to take them out or adjust as required. The construction team ensure mealtimes are protected/quiet times as well as ensuring all works are completed by 4.30pm each day.

Additional mitigation can and will be discussed if we have specific concerns or complaints. While our efforts have primarily focussed on resident wellbeing, we must also consider the impacts on staff, so we are working closely with them and raise any of these concerns in our project meetings.

Refurbishment works are moving along on schedule. The second floor is due for completion by the 21st of March, at which point we will be moving residents in and vacating first floor. Dining areas have also been opened on each of the completed floors. When the first floor is undergoing refurbishment, some works will be undertaken on ground floor at the same time. The overall refurbishment estimated completion date is September 2025.

We would like to thank our Waminda residents, their families and friends as well as our staff for their ongoing patience and cooperation during this time.
