Refurbishment Project Update 

Please see below our first update for 2024 on the SwanCare Waminda Refurbishment Project. 

Renovations are moving along and over the past 18 weeks we have completed: 

• Demolition works
• Services strip out & services rough in
• Fire sprinkler pipework
• Ceiling works
• External chute preparation (for laundry & waste removal from upper floors)
• Tiling to ensuites
• Concrete pad to new reception area
• Ramp foundations

Looking ahead at what is to come:

• Internal fit out to continue to all rooms, including flooring install
• External laundry and waste chute installation
• New reception build and fit out
• Services rough in
• Blinds/curtains
• Car park and ramp structure
• External cladding
• Landscaping
• Glazing & signage
• Loose furniture install

A complication was identified in relation to widening of bathroom doors on the ground floor. Unfortunately, not all doors are able to be widened as the extensive work required to achieve this could result in a substantial delay of 7 or more weeks. We found this delay unacceptable for a number of reasons so decided not to proceed. However, subject to structural review, design and cost approvals, our aim is to proceed with widening the bathroom doors on all other levels as we are hoping to have this worked into the current timeline.

We are continuing to move our fourth-floor residents to vacant rooms on lower floors. Two residents were moved last week and another two are currently being arranged. It’s a big job so we are extremely grateful to all our families for their assistance and cooperation.
