SwanCare Feathers Wrap Up: November 2022

SwanCare Feathers Wrap Up: November 2022
Our People

Everything we do at SwanCare is for our residents. Our team often goes above and beyond to make them happy. This isn’t something they’re asked to do, but they love our residents and want them to enjoy every minute of their twilight years.

Huge congratulations to our overall Feathers winner for November, Cecilia Bray. We’re in awe of Cecilia’s compassion - even on a well-earned break, she couldn’t stop thinking about our residents.

“Cecilia travelled to Ireland and the UK this year in September, and during her stay, she thought about our residents. She wrote postcards about her experiences and travels and sent them to 95 of our residents. Some of them don't have a family, while others have family who live far away from Perth, so getting a postcard from Cecilia improved their wellbeing immensely. Having someone like Cecilia near is a true blessing; she is a hard worker and deserves recognition. Thank you, Cecilia, for your compassion and the time you devoted to making our residents’ days!”

Category Winners

Customer Service: Weng Timogtimog (Housekeeping Attendant - SwanCare Tandara)
Weng has made a huge difference to one particular resident, and we’re so grateful for her contribution. Thank you, Weng!

“I have noticed a 100% improvement in the cleanliness and tidiness of my mother's room since Weng has been cleaning it. Previously, her clothes, sheets and towels were in a heap at the bottom of the wardrobe, but Weng has ensured it’s completely tidy. The tabletops and side tables are also clean and tidy, and the floors are free of  dust. Weng’s hard work and compassion have made me feel so happy for my  mother. Well done, Weng!”

Improvements, Innovation & Creativity: Rembrandt Sy (Senior Application Support Officer – Administration)
Big changes can be difficult for everyone to understand, but Rem’s hard work made it much easier for all! Thank you, Rem!

“Rem's hard work in developing dashboards for the new AN-ACC funding model has been and will continue to be critical to the ongoing success of SwanCare's aged care. Despite the time constraint, Rem pulled information from various data sources and collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to implement a concept dashboard. This ensured our team understood the new model and could use the dashboard prior to AN-ACC being implemented. Well done, Rem, for taking on this initiative with your usual can-do attitude.”

Leadership: Kirsty Allin (Hospitality Team Leader - SwanCare Ningana)
Kirsty is a shining example of the selfless and committed leaders who thrive at SwanCare. Thank you for all you do, Kirsty!

“Kirsty has embraced her role as Team Leader in a time when the Spritz Cafe and catering teams have had many staff shortages and sickness. She just gets on with the job. Whether it’s taking orders from customers in Cafe Spritz or driving the buggy to deliver meals to our village residents, she always has a lovely smile on her face. It hasn’t been easy, but Kirsty has given over and above for her team. Thank you.”

Safety Awareness: Usha Khanal (Food Service Attendant), Guizel Lungay (Food Service Attendant) and Dhurba Rijal (Chef) - SwanCare Tandara
Fantastic teamwork was recently displayed by the Jarra Cafe team - well done to everyone involved!

“A customer was recently injured at Jarrah Cafe after they missed the seat on their walker. The team worked together to comfort the customer and minimise any risk of further harm. They stayed with the customer until an ambulance arrived to safely treat and help them recover from the fall. Well done, team, in seeking medical help quickly while keeping the customer’s welfare at the forefront.”

Teamwork: Marie Dadson (Senior Food Services Assistant – SwanCare Tandara)
We greatly appreciate Marie’s long-standing commitment to SwanCare and her team. Congratulations, Marie!

“I want to say a big thank you to Marie Dadson. Marie has worked at SwanCare for many years and has hardly taken any time off. She will always come in to cover shifts on her days off, train new staff members and never complains when staff change their availability. Thank you, Marie, for making such a big effort and helping out so much.”

Team Nomination: Yayang Benson (Food Service Attendant), Niraj Karki (Food Service Attendant), Hamish Sykes (Food Service Attendant), Bishal Paudel (Food Service Attendant), Milan Ale (Food Service Attendant), Rachit Patel (Sous Chef), Jaja Sofian (Food Service Attendant), Michael Felquin-Ozanne (Chef) and Mariebeth Macinnes (Food Service Attendant) – SwanCare Tandara
We’re so proud of how this team came together to make the shift work. Well done, team!

“We were short-staffed on a shift recently at Ningana, and the team had not been informed they would be working a person down. They all pulled together and rearranged their day to ensure the residents’ meals were not affected. In the evening, our Team Leader, Mariebeth, stepped up and led the dinner service, with other staff helping out with dishwashing and food delivery to Waminda. What a dream team! Thank you, everyone.”
