Ruby's sash reads "100 & Fabulous!" Both of which are true.

This Thursday afternoon, SwanCare Waminda threw a surprise party to celebrate residential aged care resident Ruby’s 100th Birthday! 

Staff worked together to decorate the Activity Lounge in Ruby’s favourite colour, getting the space prepped and party-perfect.

Of course, no birthday’s complete without a cake! So, staff member Sandra swapped her nursing scrubs for an apron, kindly whipping up a delicious pink birthday cake especially for the occasion. 

Finally, it was time for the big surprise!

Ruby’s face lit up when she saw her family and friends gathered at Waminda to celebrate her special day. The room was also packed with staff from across the campus, including members of our Hospitality and Maintenance team, as well as several Waminda team members who came in on their day off.

Waminda’s Care Services Manager, Pauline Bremner, gave a heartfelt speech on how Ruby has become well and truly ingrained in the SwanCare family, before everyone joined in to sing Happy Birthday.

And her secret to a successful 100 years?

“There is not really much of a secret,” she explained, “just hard work and a happy marriage.”
