Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year
Residential Aged Care

On Friday our four residential aged care centres came together for an afternoon of fun, all to honour the 2024 Lunar New Year!

21st February 2024

Helping us celebrate the 2024 Lunar New Year were members from the Chung Wah Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe who showcased a traditional celebratory performance for residents and their families to enjoy.

It’s said that the dragon and lion dance represents happiness and prosperity. It is also believed to bring good fortune to all who watch.

Although one team member did more than just watch, when Social Engagement Coordinator, Nilla Curia, who arranged the performance later became part of it!

“I was asked to pick up lettuce leaves from the ground for good luck, but I had to try to pick up as much as I could in a short space of time!

I involved some of the residents by giving them the lettuce leaves in a frenzy; You should have seen their faces!" Nilla laughed, "I am so glad everyone enjoyed the performance."

Thank you to the talented Chung Wah Dance Troupe for providing such a special experience for our residents, families and friends.

On behalf of all of us at SwanCare, we wish a Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate!
