February has been filled with heartfelt appreciation as we highlight the incredible contributions of our SwanCare team. This month, we are excited to recognise a group of outstanding individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles.

Join us in celebrating our overall Feathers Winner for February, Suresh Kaliaperumal, Hospitality Team Leader.

“I'd like to nominate Suresh for his outstanding leadership during a particularly challenging week when three cool rooms failed at the same time. With limited staff over the weekend, Suresh stepped up to coordinate efforts ensuring all products were safely transferred to other cool rooms while maintaining food safety. He also took the initiative to communicate effectively and organise breakfast for the next day, ensuring operations continued to run smoothly. Suresh’s quick-thinking problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure truly reflect strong leadership and deserves recognition”.

Excellent work, Suresh! Your problem-solving abilities and calmness under pressure have made a difference during a challenging time. Keep up the great work!

Please join us in celebrating our category winners for February as follows:
Category Winners
COMPASSION - Pema (PC) Wangdi, Assistant in Nursing– SwanCare Ningana
Email from Cecelia S., daughter of Rosa P.
We want to acknowledge PC as she is an extraordinary human being. Ningana and the residents are so lucky to have a person of her calibre to care for them. She gave us peace of mind. From the start she went out of her way to learn as much as she could about our Mum's background and life before dementia. She read the little biography I wrote but she also spoke to us all about Mum's interests’ values and situation. She always used this information to make a link to our Mum particularly when she refused medication, a shower or a change of clothes. She always listened carefully to our Mum spoke to her with respect and went out of her way to encourage her to do what was best for her welfare. She never tried to hurry her always made Mum feel important cared for and valued as a person.

PC knew that before the scourge of dementia entered our Mum's life, she was a wonderfully intelligent kind and giving person. She continued to treat our Mum in this way. She brought out the best in our Mum.

On the day our Mum died PC gave Mum a shower her medications encouraged her to have her breakfast and told her that she knew she liked a hot cup of coffee and so went out of her way to get her a fresh cup which Mum drank. How privileged was our Mum and we her family to know that both PC and Shinni were there on duty in the last moments of our Mum's long life. Thankfully, our sister Margaret was there too holding her hand having given her another cup of coffee and a huge strawberry which Mum consumed with relish when her heart just stopped. We understand it was PC and Shini who made Mum comfortable when she collapsed. We are so grateful both wonderful women were there.

Thank you. Congratulations PC on the beautiful words and sentiments shared by Cecelia. Your care and compassion have truly made a difference in Rosa's life and brought peace of mind to her family.

IMPROVEMENTS, INNOVATION & CREATIVITY - Michael Fuentes, Registered Nurse – SwanCare Kingia
Following the recent significant upgrade of AutumnCare numerous changes have come about in documentation particularly regarding care plan reviews. Michael created a comprehensive step by step guide to assist his colleagues in updating the resident's care plan and has completed this on top of his daily tasks as a nurse on the floor.

Michael, your initiative to ensure everyone is supported through changes reflects your outstanding commitment to both your team and the residents. Well, done and thank you for going above and beyond!

TEAMWORK - Shelkar Dema, Assistant in Nursing & Dechen Pelden, Assistant in Nursing – SwanCare Ningana
I'd like to recognise Dechen and Shelkar for their help. When they saw I was busy with an unwell resident on the front side they stepped in and completed some pending medications. Without me even asking they also switched over the empty Webster packs from the med trolley restocked them and made everything ready for next week. Their support allowed me to dedicate more time and care to the unwell resident ensuring high-quality care. They consistently do things like this to ensure a smooth shift often without needing to be asked. Sometimes their efforts may go unrecognised simply because I've become so accustomed to them always being there. I truly appreciate their teamwork and dedication. Thank you!
Well done, Dechen and Shelkar! Your proactive teamwork and dedication truly stand out. It’s amazing how you both consistently go above and beyond, stepping in to support your colleagues without needing to be asked.

Congratulations again to our February winners, with a special shout-out to Suresh Kaliaperumal as our overall Feathers Winner for February! Let’s continue to celebrate these incredible individuals and the difference they make each day!
