COVID-19 Update: SwanCare Tandara

We need to advise we have further confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 at SwanCare Tandara. In total, two residents on Level 1 and ten residents on Level 2 are currently affected by COVID-19. All affected residents’ families have been notified and they are being well taken care of in their rooms. One staff member has also tested positive and is isolating from home until they make a full recovery.

We are continuing to take every precaution to minimise risk and mitigate further spread. We have immediately increased infection control protocols and restricted movement across Level 1 and Level 2. We are providing the affected residents with 1:1 physiotherapy and social engagement activities, meal tray service to their rooms, and have temporarily ceased hairdressing services until further notice.

Given the increase of residents affected with COVID-19, we ask that visitations be limited and anyone wishing to visit obtain approval from the Care Services Manager, Clinical Nurse Manager or RN Team Leader prior to arrival. Exemptions will always be made for partners in care and end of life care. Anyone entering SwanCare Tandara are required to wear a N95 mask and complete Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to entry. These resources will remain available from reception.

With the health and safety of our residents and staff our priority, SwanCare will implement increased infection control measures during times of viral outbreak. In addition to mandatory masks and Rapid Antigen Testing, visitors are required to adhere to the current health and safety measures as detailed below:

  • Vaccinations for Influenza and COVID-19 are strongly encouraged

  • Hand hygiene and social distancing to be respected at all times

  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival

  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case

  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free

  • Visitors are asked to obtain approval prior to arriving, with visitors limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 12pm and 2pm – 5pm daily

All actions have been implemented under the guidance of the Department of Health.

Thank you for your patience and support as we manage this outbreak. Updates will continue to be provided where appropriate.
