COVID-19 Update for SwanCare Ningana Levels 1, 2, and 3

Following routine PCR testing conducted at SwanCare Ningana on the 17th of July, 10 additional residents across levels 1, 2 and 3 have returned positive results for COVID-19. All affected residents are isolating, being well cared for, and their families have been notified directly. One additional staff member has also returned a positive result and is isolating at home.

PCR testing will continue every 72 hours for residents at SwanCare Ningana levels 1, 2, and 3.

Since the onset of the outbreak, 13 residents and four staff members have fully recovered and completed their isolation period. It is with great sadness to report that one resident has passed away due to complications from COVID-19. SwanCare wishes to convey our sympathies to the family and friends of this much-loved resident.

The health and wellbeing of our SwanCare residents is our absolute priority. Our COVID-19 Response Team is onsite, and we are actively engaged with our Clinical Infection Control Consultant for further guidance. In addition, the Department of Health has provided surge workforce to assist us in managing this outbreak.

SwanCare Ningana level 1, level 2, and level 3 are closed to visitors – please refrain from visiting until further notice. Visitation exemptions will be made for end of life and partners in care.

Arrangements for telephonic and video communications with your loved ones can be made by contacting SwanCare Ningana during reception hours to schedule a time.

Visitations to SwanCare Ningana ground floor may continue with increased infection control measures in place. Visiting hours for ground floor residents are 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm Monday to Sunday.

We would like to remind everyone that when visiting you are required to conduct a RAT test and wait 15 minutes to confirm the negative result. This is in addition to the health screening via the kiosk at reception and following the WA Government’s current level 1 public health and social measures. Please ensure you are arriving with adequate time to follow these protocols correctly. We also ask all visitors who test positive within 48 hours of visiting any SwanCare residential aged care centre to please contact us immediately, so that we can ensure your loved one is closely monitored for symptoms.
