COVID-19 Outbreak Update | SwanCare Tandara

We would like to provide an update regarding the COVID-19 outbreak at SwanCare Tandara. Since our last update, we need to advise that one resident has tested positive to COVID-19 on Level 1 with two residents testing positive today on Level 2. The residents’ families and their GP’s have been notified with those residents now being well taken care of in their rooms. One further staff member has also tested positive to COVID-19 and is isolating at home, with a total of 19 previously affected residents having now made a fully recovery.

It is, however, with great sadness that we report one resident who tested positive to COVID-19 during this outbreak has since passed away. SwanCare wishes to convey our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this much-loved resident.

To further help us assist in reducing risk and mitigating further spread, we have restricted movement across Level 2. Physiotherapy and social engagement activities have been modified to one-on-one, and meal tray service is being provided to all affected residents.

We continue to request that visits to SwanCare Tandara be limited wherever possible. Exemptions can be made for end of life and partners in care; however, all approved visitors must wear an N95 mask and complete a RAT prior to entry. Arrangements for telephonic and video communications can be made by contacting SwanCare Tandara during reception hours.

To maintain the health and safety of our residents and staff, all visitors are required to respect the infection control measures in place detailed below:

  • Complete RAT prior to entry.
  • Wear a properly fitted N95 mask while on the affected floors, surgical masks are required elsewhere.
  • Complete health screening and sign in using visitor kiosk upon arrival.
  • Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations prior to entry is encouraged.
  • Respect all infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in place.
  • Refrain from visiting if unwell or if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 case.
  • If COVID-19 positive, refrain from visiting for at least 7 days and until symptom free.
  • Visitors are limited to two people at a time, from 9am – 7pm daily.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support as we continue to manage this outbreak.
