Bentley Park residents Adrian and Jenni Barnes have been avid travellers for most of their life. Their passion for exploration, and trusty caravan, has led them to some of the most beautiful places Australia has to offer. We're excited to share their top travel tips for residents looking to hit the road!

It's the Journey that Matters

For those travellers who enjoy cafes and shopping, we have nothing to offer. For those folk who enjoy rural towns, outback places or being in the bush, our main advice: just enjoy!

Pre-travel Prep:  Are your medications up to date? Before leaving home, it's important to ensure you have all your medical necessities packed and ready for use, as some country chemists have limited supply and may not have what you're looking for.

Safe Speeds:  Some road-trains are up to 60 metres in length, same as about 12 cars in line, and they can legally travel at I 00kph. When we purchased our caravan, the salesman recommended 80kph as a safe speed, allowing road trains a 20kph margin to overtake with due safety. While we usually travel alone, if with other caravanner's we endeavour to keep about a dozen car lengths apart as a precaution.

Caravan Checklist:  If your caravan has alloy wheels, be sure to check the wheel nuts often as they can work loose overtime. It's also very handy to have a portable handheld UHF radio, set to Channel 40, to allow Traffic Control personnel and Pilot Vehicles to communicate with you when needed. You never know when you might need to change route!

Out & About:  For those who like getting out in the bush, bring a vacuum flask for your tea or coffee. This means you can stop anywhere to wander about and talk to the lizards and birds with a warm drink in hand. Also, remember to always take your rubbish with you to the next available bin to help maintain our country's stunning landscapes.

Thank you for these invaluable tips Adrian and Jenni. Preparedness makes the trip much more enjoyable and we love hearing that our residents are living the life they deserve. We hope the above gives others a little added confidence in exploring our great country.
