SwanCare prepares over 1000 meals every day across our four residential aged care centres and retirement village.
This incredible feat is made possible thanks to a special team of dedicated individuals, who are passionate about producing not only delicious but safe meals for our community to enjoy.
Today is World Food Safety Day, and who better to chat to than SwanCare’s Head Chef, Sathish Kumar.
Sathish shared with us some of the highlights from his role, and what he enjoys most about working in the aged care industry. But first, he discusses what is considered the most important aspect when it comes to making quality meals.
“Food Safety is our top priority,” explains Sathish, “We have a strong food safety plan in place to ensure that all our residents remain healthy and safe; providing safe and nutritious meals is essential for their well-being.”
Sathish brings us 20 years of experience in Hospitality and as a Head Chef, creating mouth-watering meals that he is proud to share with our residents at SwanCare.
“I have always had a passion for food and wanted to bring my expertise and knowledge to aged care,” he says, “My goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, can enjoy cuisines from different parts of the world.”
Sathish’s role is filled with rewarding moments, which he says is the main reason behind his love for the job.
“My favorite part about my job is seeing our residents happy and enjoying their meals. Knowing that our food brings joy and satisfaction to them makes me excited to come to work each day.
There are so many memorable moments, but one that stands out is when I meet the residents and they tell me how much they enjoyed the food. Additionally, receiving appreciation from the residents' families for what we do is incredibly rewarding and reinforces why I love my job.”
SwanCare would like to say thank you to Sathish, and our entire Hospitality team, for pouring so much care and compassion into each meal.
