Feathers Winners June 2024

Feathers Winners June 2024
Our People

Congratulations to all our Feathers winners for the month of June!

We’ve always known it, but SwanCare people are a special kind. Thoughtfulness and compassion are just a couple of traits that our staff exhibit, both in and out of work. An act of compassion was witnessed recently, demonstrated by our wonderful Assistant in Nursing, Taonga Mkandawire, which is why she is our Feathers winner for June – congratulations Taonga!

“Taonga was off-duty and attending to her errands when she bumped into a resident with cognitive impairment at Belmont Forum. The resident was meant to be out on a supervised social outing with her sister, however Taonga discovered that the resident had been seperated from her supervision at the shopping mall. Taonga immediately rang us at work to inform us about what was happening, and stayed with the resident as she was concerned about the resident's safety and well-being. Even though Taonga was not responsible for the resident in that situation, Taonga stayed with the resident throughout and provided assistance as needed until the resident was reunited with her family. Thank you Taonga for such exceptional care and compassion towards our residents both at work and off-duty!”

A demonstration of true compassion. Thank you Taonga!

We had plenty of other incredibly heart-warming stories that verify how our SwanCare team reflect the SwanCare values. Here’s an insight into the phenomenal work of our category winners.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Matthew Southgate, Retirement Living Consultant – Admin

“I would like to thank Matthew for helping residents who needed to get home after the SwanMobile batteries went flat. I asked Matthew and he didn't hesitate to assist in driving them home. Your assistance is most appreciated - thank you, Matthew.”

Customer service is really put to the test when challenges arise, as demonstrated by Matt who didn’t delay in saving the day! Great work Matt.

IMPROVEMENTS, INNOVATION & CREATIVITY

Paul Marshall, WHS Coordinator – Admin

“I would like to acknowledge the commitment to WHS that Paul has provided to the organisation in the short time he has been in the role. Paul has a very connecting personality that is received well by our staff in Residential Care. He listens to our concerns and is obliging in considering our sometimes-difficult situations with residents. Well done Paul - we look forward to your continuing support of WHS.”

Paul your work helps shape our organisation, and you do it with style. Thank you for your efforts, you have made a great impression!

LEADERSHIP

Natalie Reid, Registered Nurse – SwanCare Waminda

“Nat displays amazing leadership skills, clinical knowledge and work ethic. She always arrives on shift early; ensures we have adequate staff and allocates as needed. She exhibits admirable leadership and is always stepping up to help others. She has never refused someone asking for help or advice. She is extremely kind and loved by residents and staff alike. She is an outstanding nurse and somewhat of a mentor to me. She says she is just doing her job, but she goes over and above. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.”

What fantastic feedback, you should be proud Natalie. We are certainly grateful to have you on our team.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Bel Rhodes, Payroll Officer – Admin

Bel has only just started with SwanCare two weeks ago and has absolutely hit the ground running. Bel has already come up with some great ideas to improve the payroll processing tasks to make things easier for the team. Bel has great initiative and has a crack at anything that is thrown her way. Thanks, Bel for being an amazing support to the wider Payroll team.”

It sounds like a very productive first two weeks, we can’t wait to see what else your talents bring to the team. Well done, Bel!

SAFETY AWARENESS

Barshad Prasain, Food Service Assistant – Hospitality

“I wanted to take a moment to recognise and appreciate Barshad’s exceptional safety awareness in the workplace. His attention to potential hazards, especially with hot soup while giving this to the residents in their room, have significantly contributed to maintaining a safe space for residents.”

Safety is paramount for everyone at SwanCare, demonstrating this critical SwanCare value cannot be underestimated. Thank you Barshad!

TEAMWORK

Rachit Patel, Sous Chef - Hospitality

“I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rachit for his outstanding work during the breakfast launch. Rachit has demonstrated incredible support for the care centres, ensuring the success of the new breakfast launch. Rachit's dedication was evident as he took the initiative to check on the team, making sure everyone was confident and comfortable with their tasks. His additional support was invaluable, especially when an unforeseen situation arose.

On the big breakfast day, we faced a challenge as our morning FSA couldn't make it to their shift. Despite our efforts we were unable to find a replacement. Rachit's commitment shone through as he kindly volunteered to come in early that morning, preparing all food to ensure the breakfast service ran smoothly and our residents' meals were not delayed.

His selflessness is even more remarkable considering he has a newborn at home. Balancing family commitments with his professional responsibilities, Rachit's dedication ensured the success of our breakfast launch. Thank you, Rachit for your exceptional support and commitment. Your hard work and dedication are truly appreciated.”

Amazing Rachit, what a lifesaver! We are grateful for your hard work and commitment to the role and organisation. Thank you!

TEAM NOMINATION

Ceridwen Williams, Carolynn Robinson, Joanne Hall, Kirsten MacDonald, Social Engagement Assistants – SwanCare Waminda

“I would like to nominate the Social Engagement staff for the amazing job they did for Ruby’s 100th birthday party. As well as their normal day to day tasks, they made a huge effort in decorating the Activity Room with balloons, lights, flowers, plus coordinating tableware and music. The venue looked amazing. They also organised food and drinks for guests, other residents and staff to celebrate the memorable occasion. Ruby is still talking about her special day a month later. It was a day in which many residents, as well as staff, came together to celebrate in style. Thank you, Social Engagement team."

Party planner extraordinaries! It sounds fabulous, what a great success. We hope there are many more parties to come. Well done team!
