Feathers Winners July 2025
Our People

Despite the winter chill this July, the inspiring Feathers nominations continue to warm our hearts and highlight the incredible work happening behind the scenes at SwanCare.

Despite the winter chill this July, the inspiring Feathers nominations continue to warm our hearts and highlight the incredible work happening behind the scenes at SwanCare. We’re proud to shine a spotlight on Cerelyn Smith, our amazing Assistant in Nursing from SwanCare Tandara, whose dedication truly stands out.

Cerelyn has been recognised for her Compassion. We received feedback from a team member stating, “We recently welcomed a new resident who had a history of refusing all aspects of care and arrived in a very unkept state. Cerelyn took the initiative to build rapport with him, approaching the situation with patience, compassion and genuine kindness.

Through her efforts, the resident began to trust her and eventually allowed her to assist with his personal grooming. Cerelyn carefully and gently shaved him; the transformation was remarkable, not just in his appearance but in his demeanour. He looked incredibly clean, well-cared for, and more importantly, he was smiling and even praised Cerelyn for her gentle approach. Her ability to connect with a resistant resident and provide care with such empathy is truly commendable.

Cerelyn made a meaningful difference in his day and likely his outlook; and we are so proud of the work she's doing. Thank you, Cerelyn, for exemplifying compassionate care.”

Cerelyn, your empathy and dedication shine through in every moment of care you provide. We are incredibly lucky to have you as part of our SwanCare family!

Every day, our team demonstrates SwanCare’s values in action and we’re excited to celebrate this month’s category winners who’ve been recognised for exactly that!

Category Winners
CUSTOMER SERVICE - Chimi Eden, Housekeeping Assistant - SwanCare Kingia
We received feedback from our resident, Philip Jones, praising Chimi as follows: “I wish to acknowledge the efforts and dedication of a female cleaner called Eden. On the morning of Wednesday, 9th July 2025, at approximately 9 am, she knocked on the door and asked if she could clean my bathroom area, and I agreed. Later, a tall male carer delivered breakfast to my bedside table on the window side of my room (whilst Eden was in the bathroom). I could not access the table because the carer did not move the two bedside bars. I was in a wheelchair. I asked Eden if she would pick them up, fold them, and slide them under the bed, and she did so willingly. Before she left the room, I asked her if she could have a look at some marks on the inside of my entrance door. She agreed and made light work of removing the marks, even though it wasn’t part of her regular duties.

I appreciate her willingness and attention to detail to ensure not only that my requests were met, but that I was satisfied and pleased. I thanked her for going out of her way for me. I would like to see her given acknowledgement for her actions.”

What a lovely feedback, Chimi. Your dedication and attentiveness are much appreciated and do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do, Chimi.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT - Aris Tisbe, Receptionist - SwanCare Kingia & Tandara
“I would like to take a moment to acknowledge Aris for his remarkable growth and dedication. Despite having a full schedule, he has consistently stepped up to assist other departments, demonstrating a strong sense of teamwork and commitment. Some of the many ways Aris has gone above and beyond include:

- Supporting the Waminda reception team by not only printing new resident labels but also taking the time to teach them how the process works and empowering others through knowledge sharing.
- Assisting the Admissions team by entering new resident details into AutumnCare as well as scanning and saving important documents and ensuring a smooth and efficient onboarding process.
- Touring a prospective resident's family when their availability was limited showed flexibility and a genuine commitment to making families feel welcome and supported.
- Taking the initiative to update existing residents' photos in AutumnCare and their rooms. These updated photos don't just meet a requirement; they reflect the residents' bright and happy expressions - a testament to Aris' thoughtful approach.

His willingness to learn and adapt to challenging situations has truly stood out. Aris has not only embraced these opportunities but has excelled in them, showing resilience, initiative and a positive attitude throughout. Thank you, Aris, for your outstanding contributions. You've truly shined, and your efforts have not gone unnoticed.”

Aris, you truly embody what it means to be proactive and collaborative. Your efforts to go above and beyond is truly appreciated, and your positive attitude makes you an invaluable part of the SwanCare family. Thank you, Aris!

TEAMWORK - Lu-Anne Santiago, Registered Nurse & Sathi Dey, Enrolled Nurse - SwanCare Waminda
“Lu-Anne and Sathi stayed after their shift until 11:00pm as one of our residents had not returned from her trip to the Casino. The resident location watch indicated where she was, and staff could hear her talking to people, but the resident would not respond to them. Lu-Anne and Sathi shouldered the responsibility of driving to the Casino and bringing the resident back to Waminda. I wanted to recognise these two for going above and beyond to ensure the safety of one of our vulnerable residents. Thank you so much!”

Thank you for caring, Lu-Anne and Sathi. Your actions speak volumes about the care and compassion you have for our residents. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication!

Congratulations to all our July winners, with a special shoutout to Cerelyn Smith as our overall Feathers winner for July!
