Our People

We were delighted to receive so many inspiring stories about our amazing team members in the last month.

We were delighted to receive so many inspiring stories about our amazing team members in the last month. We hope you enjoy reading the Feathers nominations for May, which acknowledge and celebrate how our people go above and beyond in their work, demonstrating SwanCare values day in, day out.

We are thrilled to announce our Feathers winner for May - Sherab Gyeltshen, Assistant in Nursing at SwanCare Waminda who was nominated for his Teamwork. Congratulations Sherab!

Here is his nomination:
“Sherab was asked to assist nurses who were struggling with a locked medication trolley that no one could open. He conducted his own research to troubleshoot the issue and, when no solution was found, recognised the urgency and sought permission to break the trolley to avoid delays for residents waiting for their medication. Sherab then gave it his all to get it open. Without his determination and effort, the delay could have been significant. He clearly understands the value of teamwork and supporting residents’ needs.”

Please help us celebrate our additional category winners for May:

COMPASSION - Kimberley Carao, Housekeeping Assistant – SwanCare Waminda
“Kim has been incredibly supportive during our weekend singalongs. She generously offers her own time to sing for the residents, bringing joy and entertainment with her lovely angelic voice. The residents truly enjoy and appreciate her presence. Despite working in a different department, Kim willingly contributes in her own way and helps make the singalong a meaningful and enjoyable experience for everyone. Kim goes above and beyond to support our residents, and their efforts are truly appreciated. Thank you for your outstanding care and compassion.”

What fun! Who knew your vocal talents would prove so valuable in your work Kim! Thank you for providing so much happiness to our residents.

CUSTOMER SERVICE - Tina Fairbairn, Admissions Coordinator
“To SwanCare, I have just had the pleasure of dealing with Tina Fairbairn, the Admissions Coordinator. The service I received from the whole of the admissions team was outstanding. I lodged an application for residency for my 93-year-old mother on the 8th April. I received a confirmation from Tina Fairbairn on the 1st May notifying me that mum is on the wait list and all correct. Thank you to all at SwanCare.”

Great job Tina, it’s lovely to hear how your diligence and care is appreciated. You are an asset to our team. Thank you!

LEADERSHIP - Safi Sheik Mydheen, Lifestyle Assistant – SwanCare Kingia & Tandara
“I would like to commend Safi for her outstanding leadership during the social engagement team leader’s absence. Despite experiencing some miscommunication and last-minute changes to a social engagement activity, Safi stepped in confidently, took charge and ensured the event was organised seamlessly with no issues. Her initiative, calm approach and strong organisational skills ensured a successful outcome for our residents. Excellent work, Safi! A job very well done.”

Fabulous feedback Safi. Your natural leadership abilities are evident, and you clearly have a bright future ahead in your career. Congratulations!

TEAMWORK - Ilton Ramiro, Receptionist – SwanCare Kingia
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to Ilton for consistently providing invaluable support to our lifestyle team. As a former team member, he is well aware of our requirements. He is always ready to assist with preparations for art and craft activities. He also helped the team during my absence of three weeks. Since he is currently stationed at the reception he has graciously chosen to continue overseeing the books delivered to one of our residents, even when I returned to work.”

It sounds like you’ve been busy Ilton! We love it when people get stuck in and help when needed, it’s what teamwork is all about. Great job!

TEAM NOMINATION - Keenan Redwood, Roster Coordinator Team Leader & Amir Thapa Roster Coordinator
“Following the recent changes to the rostering team and the transition of the rostering function to head office, there have been challenges with not having rostering personnel readily accessible within individual buildings. This has highlighted just how vital a strong and dependable rostering team is to our daily operations.
Throughout this period, Keenan and Amir have consistently demonstrated exceptional reliability, efficiency and teamwork. Their proactive communication, willingness to assist and collaborative approach have significantly supported continuity of care and operational stability. Keenan and Amir have truly proven the value of an effective rostering team. Excellent teamwork and a job very well-done team!”

What a dream team! It sounds like a smooth operation you have going on there – you must be proud of what you are achieving. Thank you for all your hard work.
