There is so much incredible work being carried out day in, day out by our people, which is reflected in this month’s Feathers nominations. Now cosy up with a cuppa and read on for some heart-warming stories.
Firstly, we are thrilled to announce our overall Feathers Winner for June, Emily Carpenter, People & Culture Coordinator from the SwanCare Administration team.
Emily has been recognised for Customer Service. We received this lovely feedback from a team member saying, “We received this lovely feedback from a team member saying, “I would like to recognise Emily for all the assistance she has provided to SwanCare Ningana over the last three weeks. With the Roster Coordinator on unexpected leave for an extended period, Emily has been invaluable with helping roster Ningana staff and shift changes into Optima, plus printing our allocation sheets. She has done this with a smile and in a timely manner, while juggling her own workload. As Optima is what payroll is processed from, it is essential that changes are actioned - especially having pay run this week. Emily, I can't express enough how much of a support you have been and well deserving of Feathers. Thanks!”
This not only demonstrates Emily’s natural ability in providing exceptional customer service, but it also highlights true teamwork. Thank you, Emily for your hard work, this Feathers award is well deserved!
We have a fantastic line-up of category winners for June, please join us in celebrating all of our winners:
Category Winners
COMPASSION - Gerald Garcia, Assistant in Nursing SwanCare Kingia & Tandara
“I want to take this opportunity just to say I can't speak more highly of Gerald Garcia. It is wonderful to see Gerald engage with the residents in SwanCare Kingia. He brings them such joy, and they are happy. He is warm, kind and gives his time to each and every one, showing them how important they are. He has patience, a valuable and excellent caregiver and he should be highly recommended. He treats my mother with the same compassion and care.” - Teresa Schelske, family member of resident Marie Thomas.
What lovely feedback Gerald! A naturally caring and compassionate nature cannot be taught, you are a role model to others, and we are grateful that we have you as part of our team. Thank you, Gerald!
IMPROVEMENTS, INNOVATION & CREATIVITY - Aris Tisbe, Receptionist SwanCare Kingia
“I would like to appreciate Aris's efforts in updating the display photo of the residents outside their respective rooms. This thoughtful task not only enhances the overall presentation of our centre but also reflects a deep sense of care and respect for our residents' identity and dignity. Thank you, Aris for your attention to detail and your commitment to maintaining a welcoming and personalised environment.”
Great initiative Aris! Making improvements like this make a big difference to the many who pass through our doors. Thank you for your work!
SAFETY AWARENESS - Sarrley Patterson, Assistant in Nursing SwanCare Ningana
“I would like to nominate Sarrley for her compassion and care towards residents with dementia, as well as her keen safety awareness. In Level 2 SwanCare Ningana it can be difficult to recognise and respond to agitated behaviour.
Sarrley was cleaning the tables after breakfast when two residents who both like their personal space stood very close to each other. They were facing each other and frowning trying to pass each other. Sarrley immediately stopped what she was doing and went to stand with them chatting, smiling and diffusing the situation. She encouraged one to carry on walking while assisting the other resident to walk arm in arm with her to the lounge to get a cup of tea. This quick action and calm approach de-escalated the situation and prevented a confrontation. Thank you, Sarrley for your quick and compassionate attitude.”
Sarrley, your proactive and smart approach to managing delicate situations is admirable. We appreciate your commitment to your work, thank you!
TEAMWORK - Kristin Williams, Hospitality Team Leader
“I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Kris for the incredible support provided during the departure of one of our HAAs. At short notice, Kris took the initiative to learn the Chefmax software and stepped in to cover the role until a permanent replacement could be found. She handled everything exceptionally well, ensuring operations continued smoothly. Even while fulfilling her team leader responsibilities, Kris remained highly effective and an outstanding team player. Thank you, Kristin, for your dedication and support.”
This is impressive Kristin! This story is a real testament to your talent and capabilities, thank you for stepping in and helping your peers so efficiently, you’re an asset to the team!
