SwanCare’s Feathers Wrap Up: July 2019

Feathers Logo

This month, we offer our warmest congratulations to Zoran Pusaric, Maintenance, for taking out the top Feathers Award in July for Customer Service!
    Feathers Winner July 2019

This month, we celebrate Zoran for staying back to install a residents' television. Although his shift was about to finish, Zoran said, “I’ll set it up now because if I leave it until Monday our resident won’t have anything to watch for the next two days.’’ As his colleague reflected, “Zoran’s kind attitude is worthy of recognition. It’s such a pleasure to have staff always thinking of our residents.” Thank you, Zoran.

SwanCare’s Feathers nominations offer a glimpse into life at SwanCare. They show acts of friendship, community and altruism. A common theme in our Feathers nominations this month is understanding and creativity. From Sathish Kumar who embraces feedback on his delicious menu to Vicci Donovan who (literally!) brightens up our resident’s days to the Waminda Activities, Nursing & Hospitality team who have been building props for our Mary Poppins Musical during weekends, we couldn’t ask for a more incredible team.

Category Winners

Compassion: Geraldine Garrett (Manager Q & C, Kingia)

In July, we express our gratitude to Geraldine for her kindness in supporting staff after the recent passing of one of our beloved colleagues. As a staff member wrote, “Geraldine has helped me throughout my mourning process. Geraldine and Lynn assisted me to organise a memorial service for Peter even though she was off duty.” Thank you Geraldine, your humanity is greatly appreciated in supporting our staff throughout this very difficult time.

Improvements, Innovation and Creativity: Vicci Donovan (RN, Tandara)

Vicci had a very special surprise for us this month! She has been delighting our residents and staff with bright and colourful personalised scrubs at Kingia and Tandara. “Vicci has spent her free time organising bright and colourful scrubs for our nursing, lifestyle and AIN staff. The colours immediately lift the moods of our residents and is a conversation starter. The bold new scrubs pair well with Vicci's bubbly personality.” What a creative and innovative idea – well done Vicci!

Leadership: Lauren Seccull (HTL, Hospitality)

In July, we recognise Lauren Seccull for embracing her new role and thinking outside the box to cover all bases! “While still continuing to deliver meals on Fridays, Lauren is now working four days per week liaising with families, residents and staff regarding resident meals. She is very careful to ensure everything is spot on and has quickly adapted to her new responsibility of rostering. Lauren ensures that the Plating Room Staff have everything they need for residents to receive their meal choice. She is also a very encouraging and effective Team Leader for the Village Meals Team. Lauren is adaptable to any role and goes above and beyond to ensure all areas are covered correctly and efficiently.  Fantastic work Lauren!”

Learning and Development: Vicci Donovan (RN, Kingia)

This month, Vicci has taken out the Award for Learning and Development for providing boundless support to our new graduate nurse at Kingia. “Vicci has been a nurse for just over a year, so she knows what it’s like to be a recent graduate. She has shown our new nurse patience and has provided her full support during buddy shifts. Vicci shares her advice but is also driven to continue to learn every day. Vicci approaches every challenge with a positive attitude. I have seen Vicci grow from being a Graduate Nurse into a more confident and independent nurse. Well done Vicci!”

Teamwork: Kaye Mudra (Laundry Supervisor, Hospitality)

In July, we wish to extend a sincere thank you to Kaye for always being approachable and helpful. Recently, Kaye assisted one of our residents to locate her missing clothes. As the person nominating her wrote, “The way Kaye spoke with the resident and explained the laundry process helped to calm her down. Kaye personally searched for the missing clothes. I would like to recognise Kaye for her wonderful teamwork. Thank you so much.”

Team nomination:

Rembrant Sy, Jake Francis, Zoran Pusaric (IT & Maintenance)

This month, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our IT and Maintenance team – notably Jake, Zoran and Rembrant. The team has been instrumental in helping to relocate office equipment from the ground floor of Kingia. As the person nominating the trio noted, “Nothing is too much trouble for this team. They operate with great patience and a sense of humour – which is an achievement!  Thank you, guys! Awesome work – we couldn’t have done it without you.”
