Charity Work

At SwanCare, we believe that charity begins at home. From collecting donations for Foodbank WA, to fundraising for Cancer Council WA or Movember, we encourage both our staff and residents to take part in these important charity fundraising events. It's not only about helping raise much needed funds, but also about helping to increase awareness within the community.

Below are just some of the charity events our SwanCare staff and residents have proudly been a part of and continue to participate in each year.

Foodbank WA

Foodbank WA

SwanCare's 2022 Foodbank drive was a fantastic success with many residents and staff generously donating food to help fight hunger of those in need.

In 2020 we collectively donated 240kg, or 432 meals. In 2021 we donated 452kg, or 814 meals. And in 2022 we donated a huge 581kg, that's equivalent to 1162 meals!

What an excellent result. Well done to all involved.

Movember

Movember

Every year, the SwanCare men take part in Movember, a charity organisation which helps to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. The men who participate have a lot of fun growing their moustaches throughout the month, and love getting behind this important cause to raise much needed funds and awareness.

Breast Cancer WA

Breast Cancer Care WA

SwanCare staff proudly support Breast Cancer Care WA by taking part in Purple Bra Day. All the funds raised go directly to the foundation and the participation provided on the day not only helps to raise awareness, but also provides support to staff members and families who have been affected by Breast Cancer.

Cancer Council WA

Cancer Council WA

Each year, SwanCare residents rally together to raise much needed funds for Cancer Council by hosting a number of fundraising initiatives. SwanCare’s Australind Rise retirement village have also helped raise tens of thousands of dollars by fundraising their cookbook: Cooking for a Cause, while SwanCare Bentley Park residents host Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event and National Patio Day.

Australian Doctors for Africa

Australian Doctors for Africa

The team at SwanCare have volunteered their time to assist Australian Doctors For Africa where possible. In 2017, with help from volunteers at Community Mates, a maternity hospital in Somaliland received a range of SwanCare’s surplus equipment including beds, wheelchairs, bedside tables, and other healthcare equipment. These donations made a huge difference to the local hospital, where help was much needed.

Worlds Greatest Shave

World’s Greatest Shave

In 2020, as a gesture of support for those living with cancer, SwanCare Activities Officer Velvet Barrett shaved off her long locks of hair for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Great Shave.
