West-Australian retirement living and aged care provider SwanCare is celebrating a group of staff members who this year reached significant service milestones - to a total of 250 combined years on the job.
The Staff Service Awards luncheon was held on the 25th October where 17 long-term staff were thanked for their 35, 30, 25, 20 and 10 year milestone service lengths at SwanCare including maintenance, nursing, hospitality and administration staff members.
35-year-honouree George Palmer, maintenance supervisor at the SwanCare Bentley Park retirement village, said the best part about coming to work each day is the friendly, team environment.
“It’s great to come in, get the guys going and then we all get to work,” George said. “Most of the people in my team learn from each other - we all lead as a team.”
Susie Wilson has worked as an enrolled nurse with SwanCare for 30 years and spending time with residents has kept her going.
“If residents are having a restless night, a warm cuppa, sandwiches, biscuits and a quiet chat goes a long way in resettling them,” Susie said. “When the resident says thank you, it is the best feeling knowing you have helped in some small way.”
SwanCare CEO Graham Francis knows that staff really are what has made SwanCare a strong local organisation since 1961.
“It takes all different types of people with different specialities to run SwanCare, but the one thing they all share is a desire to look after our residents well,” Graham said. “I’m extremely proud that SwanCare has been able to cultivate such a great group of individuals that want to come to work and contribute every day.”
